IES Tong Die Retainer

Description

The tong die retainer is a structural retention component that secures the tong die insert within the clamp head assembly. It prevents die movement under clamp load and ensures the gripping insert remains properly seated during repeated clamp and torque cycles.

The retainer interfaces with the clamp head die pocket and works together with the mounting fastener and detent support geometry to maintain stable die positioning under load.

The IES clamp head incorporates a horizontal detent support slot that mechanically engages the tong die retainer in addition to the fastener. This converts the retention system from fastener-only shear support to combined mechanical and fastener retention, improving load distribution and reducing fastener stress under clamp load conditions.
